TOPIC: Gun Control in the UK
#230927
Gun Control in the UK 2 Years, 5 Months ago
Some publicity after the Plymouth murders - one victim's sister seems very sensible and balanced and revealed (as did the MP campaigning) that many gun owners have serious drink and drug habits and lied consistently on their application for licences.
I suspect everyone (even GM) would agree - we need further examination on applicants.
Every single false accuser in all the cases against me (of which 90% failed) were addicts and liars - often both admitted.
People tend to ignore the problems of addiction and mental problems.
Even doctors and experts simply accept such admissions as unimportant when listening to the problems.
Many attribute the lies as the reasons for the addictions (even when they are proved to have existed before any false claim dates).
Makes no sense to any normal person.

When I got my licences JK it was very, very tricky. I had a conviction and I had get the gun racks and sorage cabinets. The police did 2 home inspections and the interview was intense. I had to convince them that I was the outdoor type and I have been hunting since a kid. ( I have family photos, equipment, diaries and knowledge and I new the law and the basic do's and don'ts)

I had friends and family who backed me up and even they were interviewed. I even had to get evidence from my GP.

I have no idea why the police returned the guns to the Plymouth nutter and even got a licence. He wasn't in a rural area it was more of a town. It's harder to get a licence if you live in a town or inner city.

My guns are in a proper gun storage cabinet with locks and keys. If I have them in the car they are concealed until I am in a field.

Sounds exactly right GM. I suspect it's not the law that needs changing but the execution of the law. Like False Allegations. Once proven false they MUST be investigated and if deliberate or malicious, like Carl Beech, prosecuted. What's frightening is that perpetrators (and their enablers) escape any censure unless they are high profile and the victims wealthy and/or famous.

The officers who granted the licence to Plymouth nutter need to be investigated, did they know his family? If his Dad warned the police of his odd behaviour and wanted to revoke his licence why didn't they?

I have no idea how people become simps.
