TOPIC: Oscars 2023

Oscars 2023 2 Years, 3 Months ago
Just rewatched the excellent Saving Private Ryan. If the very ordinary All Quiet wins even 1 award it will be insulting to that and to 1917 - both brilliant anti war films. Banshees, Close, The Whale, Elvis - all deserve prizes. Likewise Living (loved it). The Duke (loved it). I hated Everything Everywhere and Aftersun. Now over to the panel.

As usual I am playing catch up with films (work full time, young children and my own creative endeavours take all my time). But from what I have read here & elsewhere I really want to see Banshees & Close.

Yes WYOT - after I "left" the music industry I realised how few people globally watch films or read books. But billions used to listen to music. No longer. It's all podcasts and streaming.

Well Everything won everything. Can someone explain why? I watched it twice (fell asleep after 30 mins first time) and hated it.

I had dinner with a very pleasant, then unknown actor from Saving Private Ryan...his name was Vin Diesel
