Nobody amongst the commentators or opinion people on TV, radio, in the press - even in Social Media (which was, of course, where this all blew up) has pointed out that this trivial, unimportant, stupid row, about whether or not sports presenters should censor themselves, is only important because MEDIA has inflated it.
Like Brexit. Who cares? Like Covid. Who cares? Like a missing drowned lady. Who cares?
Only a few people, to be honest. Friends, family.
Not "the world". Most of the world has no idea who Gary Lineker is (just as they don't know who Jonathan King is).
Just as minor trading rules between the UK and EU is of no interest to 99.999% of the globe.
Just as a new variant of a virus is unimportant to 99.999% of the world.
More serious problems (like the Rohingya or earthquakes or wars) get ignored (after, of course, being inflated for a few minutes).
There has been more media time devoted to a False Allegation about Prince Andrew or a minor family spat about Harry'n'Meghan than the far more essential story about millions being destroyed in Burma or whatever they call it these days.
Humanity has swallowed, digested and absorbed the Stupid Pill.

Flicking through news sites it mostly about BBC and Lineker. It's certainly a distraction, I couldn't care less about football and BBC. I haven't proper TV for nearly 15 years and you my views on spectator sports.

Why is Lineker story on almost MSM outlet?

GB News is all over it...then again the channel is fucking trash like Sky. Talk TV is mostly about the Oscars which is more distraction news.
