Sorry, why shouldn't owners of second and multiple properties decide what kind of person rents their property?

In what other area of life is one obliged to enter a contract blindly?

If housing is a free market it is a free market. If it is not let's be open about it and stop the wealthy investing in multiple properties to let.

I think it's landlords who are fed up with sub-lettings and treating the properties as doss houses. Tenant's need to know its not their property.

I wouldnt have a problem sending photo ID or details of employment. However the upfront fees can be daylight robbery.

Hotels, bars and restaurants for example.

Usually they've no idea who they're dealing with.

If tenants are not happy why do they stay? It's your flat or house, you don't even own a single brick. If the landlord did changes the tenants expect to pay higher rent.

Own nothing but you will be happy.
