TOPIC: The Dalai Llama...

The Dalai Llama... 2 Years, 2 Months ago
Of course mainstream media and opinion jump on the "pervert" angle. I doubt this was sexual at all. Strange, disconcerting, yes.

But why not the obvious explanation? He was taken away as a young child (people believed he was a reincarnation of the Buddha. The other way to write this is he was emotionally profoundly abused) because of superstitious nonsense and forced to live an unnatural life starved of physical affection, sex and family life.

No wonder he wanted a fucking cuddle.

The assumptions being made speak volumes about the societies and individuals making them.

That is all.

I don't give a stuff about his childhood. You don't ask children to suck your tongue, even in an unfunny joke, which I expect is all it was.

I agree it comes across badly.

My point is that immediately the sensationalist, the zero sum, closed minds in media (for a good story) and the public (because their minds are closed through ignorance) just have to make it a "sex story". So boring in it's predictability.

Am I alone in being bored of predicting successfully what most people will say they think in response to events with 99% accuracy?

We are very much a cheek/forehead kissing family too, but mouth kissing is a common greeting in Tibet, along with showing the tongue.
All was going well until the tongue sucking suggestion.

Perhaps he meant "eat the tongue", like to take everything? Whatever it was, the boy was uncomfortable and the Dalai Lama didn't care, but that's deities for you!

Greenman will be along in a minute to tell us how he braises his roadkill cow tongue on the campfire in a ginger , red pepper and soy sauce base.

That's for another day Honey.

I do prefer to tap my daughter's head. I am not a kissing type.

Rupert Murdoch fibbed about the Dalai Lama when he called him a "crafty priest in Gucci loafers".

I sat at the stage edge once to see him speak..cheerful laughing man, and he wears sensible Hush Puppies.

Hedda, are you certain you hadn't had a couple of drinks and were in fact at a Ken Clarke talk...?
