Interesting language - exactly the same as HHJ Taylor used about Surrey Police and the CPS in my case in 2018 when she refused to allow any fresh trials. But a Court of Law is very different to a Committee looking at behaviour - there is nothing ILLEGAL in Boris Johnson's behaviour but, like the USA with Trump, the Establishment and Media want to get rid of Boris who is determined to rule without the restrictions imposed by media (simplification). I don't think Trump or Boris (or Khan in India or Corbyn - or, as Hedda says, a younger equivalent) is finished. Far from it. The policy merely needs tweaking. And remember - all media cares about is "a great story". And a Trump/Boris "comeback" is a great story.

Max Hastings, my old school companion, on BBC News and in The Times, says Sunak is a decent human being and Boris is not. I'm sure he's right. But I'm NOT sure being "a decent chap" is required in a leader. I suspect Churchill was a shit. But he was a great war leader. And, incidentally, a lousy peacetime one. I thought Boris was a ghastly PM though better than May and Truss (both of whom got the job through being "decent human beings" and both of whom had the current huge advantage of being women).

The wonderful session drummer Clem Cattini once told me he and all the other session musicians thought I was the best producer ever. I pointed out that he worked with Joe Meek, who was a genius. "But Joe was a C**T" replied Clem. "I happily accept I'm a nice person, Clem, but if I had as much talent in my body as Joe had in his little finger I'd be delighted".

Ditto Phil Spector. We don't need saints. We don't need "decent chaps". We need great leaders and haven't had one since Maggie Thatcher (who went mad).
