Humanity needs to grow up and defend human beings. Yes - open borders mean huge amounts of tolerance, security, decency, kindness and good sense. Huge expense from all countries in policing, benefits, housing, health care. Protection from criminals and terrorists. But we are humans and we must help humans to grow, prosper and benefit as a species.

Agreed. I have a theory though that because of the non stop sensationalist media predicting our economic, nuclear or pandemic doom people have no time for others anymore. We are suffering anxiety exhaustion and while we have no real threats (beyond the normal possible ones) directed towards us act as if we permanently do.
