TOPIC: Alcohol free pub

Alcohol free pub 1 Year, 11 Months ago
A very interesting concept here and Sam Watson has found an ideal location and USP. It's near the beach but it's only about a minute walk or so to the promenade.

Weymouth attracts thousands of visitors every year. Of course it's nice to have drink near the harbour or beach but if you're driving you can't have one. Soda drinks are full of chemicals and boring also.

Alcohol free beer is getting more popular each year and I do deliver more and more to the pubs and hotels especially in the Summer months. Gin hasn't taken off completely in establishments that I know of but they do well in the supermarkets.

Also if you're a recovering alcoholic or on medication you can have a decent drink without worrying about the side effects.

Alcohol free ale is now becoming a trend in restaurants and 0% Guinness and is flying off the shelves in a lot of supermarkets especially in Waitrose. The tastes are pretty much identical also.

It is an interesting concept but I don't understand why we don't embrace a continental cafe lifestyle more rather than trying to continue the now seemingly anachronistic tradition of the English local but with non alcoholic drinks...

I have stopped going to my local pubs because the only people left are the staff and one or two lonely alcoholics. A lot of people never came back after Lockdowns, including me I suppose.

It's a strange time for pubs a rural village pub near me has closed it's doors for good. There a little pub in a nearby towns that's thriving every day. I only drink with friends or at gigs. Supermarkets have destroyed the pubs along with the globalists.

Though not all like Wetherspoons, they've performed extraordinary well in a short time. Providing inexpensive food and drink in most of our town centres. And friends for the lonely.

Give your head a wobble Barney. A lot of Spoons are closing in the towns.

The food is crap, beer is flat and stale. I knew Tim Martin also in his younger days.

The food seems ok for the price, but why do they give you microwaved baked potatoes? Nobody wants that.

A lot of their food is done in the microwave.

I been to a few Spoons, because my friends have no class or standards. I always feel ill after eating their so-called food. I have been to several Spoons across the country.

Just spend a little extra and get a decent pint and a pub meal or go to a resturant.

Microwave cooking is the norm for the majority of pubs. Restaurant food is better and much more expensive.

Spoons fill a gap for low income people during a time of financial hardship caused by Brexit and other factors.

Microwave cooking was unheard of when I worked and owned my pub, the chef we hired loved to do things from scratch he was ex-Army. He knew to how to keeps thing low but good value for money whilst making a profit. We left him in charge but basket meals and ploughman's lunch were popular choices. He did traditional meals also like steak and ale pies and roasts.

I don't blame Brexit but the government yes...no PM has tried to make it work because we governed by the establishment and Remainer's.

You can microwave spuds and then grill them, which is a lot better, or you can bake them first and then microwave, or you can buy frozen baked ones which go in the microwave, and all are better than the wet lumps provided by Wetherspoons.
Their puddings are good though.

Yes it is not Brexit itself that is the problem, but the silliness because of it, just like covid was a problem magnified a thousand times over by greed.

Good. They must have listened to the complaints. Well done to Wetherspoons.
