I must admit to being a massive Tim Spall fan (we share the same doctor). He is absolutely brilliant in this, which is spectacularly good. Almost certainly a BAFTA winner.

Interesting how Spall, not an acceptably handsome man, becomes absolutely beautiful when he smiles.

Very good series JK, just watched it at a friend's house.

What did the lady see in him at her age? Again if people in magic men in the sky they will believe anything.

I have always loved Spall too. I re watched Mr Turner recently; recommended. His character blooms when he smiles which can make otherwise unconventional looking people attractive - so long as the character is!!

An ugly person with an ugly character smiling is a thing to be avoided.

Anne Reid also marvellous in Show 2.Older actors who are happy to expose age in their features are magnificent, aren't they? As we age we care less about our appearance and more about our art.

But little touches in this superb series have struck me. The bored faces of the Uni students at Peter's interesting lecture, for example. And his comments afterwards. Clever, clever writing and directing.

Rather hooked on this and moving ahead thanks to iPlayer; the Producer, Director and camera people need praise as well as the actors and script. So many clever shots (show three - clue, not spoiler - RUNNING) say as much as the words. A monumentally good piece of film work. Awards galore I suspect.

Having now watched this and the documentary on Ch4 - one of the things that comes out of it is how superb the police were. We tend to forget the good side of Police but the good are very, very good.

I don't understand why Ben Field was cleared for attempted murder. He knew what he was doing.

Oh yes what a wonderful show! I could watch Spall all day...But the whole thing is so well done.

If there is such a thing as evil someone like Field is surely it?

I can understand how rage/passion murder happens. But what he did was so emotionless, so cruel, the word seems apt to me.

If you kill someone through rage you acknowledge their humanity in the process where Field denies it. The victims were things to him.
