Lucy Letby 1 Year, 10 Months ago
This is such a dreadful story and there are ramifications and much needed depth of analysis. Further evidence that humanity is deteriorating.

Hospitals can either cure or kill you.

It's pot luck, Tubs refused all cancer treatment and refuses to go in a hospice.

Remember - when accused, Lucy Letby essentially claimed to be a victim of false allegations and Keir Starmer (and British Police) had instructed that SHE SHOULD BE BELIEVED in her protestations of innocence. That was how the board and executives reacted - plus, of course, she was a woman and women never lie. So the media tell us. Indeed the board forced the consultants to apologise for accusing Letby. The board was well aware that they MUST support females against males. Alice is alive and well in the Looking Glass world that society in Britain has become.

Am I crazy to think whilst of course we must sympathise with the loved ones of the dead children and condemn the appalling crimes, we must also give kindness, decency and support to the mad woman. Or is the quality of mercy indeed strained?

Totally with you on showing compassion to Letby, but it seems most people I speak to just can't get there.

I was appalled that minutes after the verdicts the local Police force released videos of Letby being arrested and her first police interview. All available on bbc news website.

I'm sorry but why the fuck do we need to see this? The Police may as well just give up the pretence that they are not part of the media.

I'm sorry but there is a clear similarity between the Lucy Letby case and the Andrew Malkinson case; bodies set up to protect the vulnerable and the innocent are not doing their jobs; they are protecting the status quo. Neither the hospital (Letby) nor the Judicial System, Police and CPS (CCRC) were to blame. I'm sorry. They were. They are.

Obviously, these deaths are terrible, but the only evidence they seem to have is circumstantial. I haven't read massive amounts of coverage, but none of them give details of much practical evidence. No CCTV, no eyewitnesses, no DNA evidence. The evidence seems to be that she was on duty when these deaths occurred. They found some crazy letters, but these could have just been fantasies. Goths can often have very dark fantasies. I'm not saying that she is innocent, but is the evidence there?

These medical cases trouble me because of the science and expert data interpretation that is required. I have read that because of this neither prosecution or defence relied on it in this case.

But doesn't that have risks (both ways) of omitting information which could cast serious doubt on the conclusion?

Perhaps this is the point of omitting it? So that there can be a trial.
