How can any white wine be worth £85 a bottle? It only costs that much to give people the perception that it is going to taste nicer than a much cheaper bottle. In a blind test, I doubt whether anyone could distinguish it from a £20 bottle of wine from Lidl. Tests have shown that if people see someone remove the cork from the bottle then they will rate the wine much higher. It's the Labour illusion, people will rate something higher if they believe that more work has gone into creation. Wines with corks are generally rated more favourably because more work is involved in opening the bottle.
Puligny Montrachet is my favourite wine - always pricey but this was even more than usual. Absolutely delicious however. And many more dinners to go (about £10 a glass).
