Some ghastly MP on TV kept talking about how Lucy Letby MUST face the victims. Excuse me, whether guilty or innocent her "victims" are dead. She can never face them.
Quite apart from justifying dragging someone to be humiliated, WHY?
I seriously cannot see why any criminal should be forced to attend sentencing.
Isn't prison enough punishment?
Yes I know many believe killers should be killed.
They have to live with themselves.

If putting the victim centre is followed to its logical conclusion, we are back to public humiliations and even executions for the edification of the masses. We are going backwards as a species.

And I do believe - perhaps within the next 20 years - capital punishment will return (following a plebiscite) with DNA advances putting some crimes beyond any doubt now and the public appetite for retribution.

I do disagree with your particular point though about who Letby's victims are. The parents of the dead babies are very much her victims; condemned to a lifetime of suffering.

I don't agree with dragging anyone to court though for public edification and entertainment.

Putting the victim at the centre of our criminal justice system eventually leads to the death penalty.

Agree the parents are victims but it's hysteria these claims she should 'face them'.

this case troubles me but I wasn't in court for 10 months to hear the evidence.
