TOPIC: That Spanish kiss

That Spanish kiss 1 Year, 11 Months ago
MADNESS - of course it's natural - for heaven's sake, has humanity gone mad? I said it years ago; these days a peck on the cheek is considered rape.

I think the spirit is right to move away from where women could be casually groped or kissed against their will (or men), but the scale of reaction and wanting to destroy people and careers off of it is what gets me...

Proportion everyone, calm down (dear )

Mind you, the guy must be insane to have done that in this day and age...

Forever we English have found it odd that Europeans seem to kiss each other at the drop of a hat. I've always loved the tactile affection of my friends - Arabs in particular are very happy to hug and kiss. Watching the "offence" it was clear delight at the win (deserved) - a woman further down the line was almost raping another player. I suppose these days Lesbian Rape is acceptable. I have been kissed on the lips by many people in my life - often unexpected and sometimes not wanted please (how many times have we surreptitiously wiped our lips?). I always thought Princess Diana's kiss for Aids victims was one of the finest examples of public display ever (even if it was caused by stupidity rather than courage).

It’s the Spanish team themselves who have taken offence (not the English)

No it's mainly WOMEN - the English team supports the Spanish team. It's all part of this stupid simplification by humanity. You only have to watch it to see - joy and enthusiasm sometimes make people of both genders cross lines. End of story.

This was a natural moment of Euphoria which made a player feel uncomfortable for a moment, and probably more uncomfortable by the press coverage. I'm more concerned about the controlling behaviour of the Spanish manager who apparently makes the ladies keep their hotel rooms open to check that they are asleep, and checks their shopping to ensure they aren't buying anything unhealthy.

Yes I have read similar disturbing stuff robbiex - if true it is a wonder the Spanish found the spirit to play like that, and disappointing for women and football that the World Cup was won by a team run by a misogynist abuser...

The sport has always been pink and fluffy.

It must be the only straight kiss in soccer history with the Spaniards.

This incident has become, we are told, a "social tsunami" sweeping Spain. I think this is telling, but not for the reasons given.

Yes, it exposes a proprietorial and patronising view of women by men (even if this incident wasn't in this category, it exposes it nevertheless) of a certain age that society needs to put to history.

But it is telling because of the size of reaction, the "tsunami".

The man involved is a stubborn idiot: he should have just apologised. You will be ruined in this age, cleaving to such positions. Then the women involved should have graciously accepted the apology and moved on, not started screeching for the heads of anyone who knows this man and their first born!

Instead, in this zero sum argument age, fuelled by social media rage, it becomes huge when it is insignificant. Blood is wanted. This further enrages men who don't want to be "bossed" by women, fuelling more sexism dressed up as "woke indignation".

It is beyond all things, fucking boring!! I hate how screechy, self righteous and loud the world is becoming...

But then again the world is calm and sage in my garden, this sunny Sunday morning. So I shall log off from the screeching world, and return to my early grey tea and book...

I would strongly object to being slobbered on without consent, but I cant see why people are so annoyed by this, while at the same time cheering on men who enter women's private spaces to make them participate in their agp kink. (because they can declare they FEEL like a woman just for the duration)

Muscling in on their sport and making it impossible for them to win is apparently progressive too, and we are bigots if we don't support being flashed at by "lady penises" in changing rooms.

The kiss was at least in public, not in an enclosed space where a woman is vulnerable.

Consent is either required, or it isn't. You cant have it both ways.

Trans rights are just sexier than women's rights Honey. I think the newer a discovered right is the more weight it carries.

In other news, the Spanish football kisser guy's mother is, we are told, locked in a church on hunger strike at the treatment of her son; thereby really helping undermine stereotypes about female hysteria...

And it could have been so easily settled by the kisser identifying as female retrospectively, therefore branding the recipient of the unwanted kiss a vile homophobe.
