TOPIC: Russell Brand PART TWO
#237510
Russell Brand PART TWO 1 Year, 9 Months ago
I suspect there will be several threads on this (the first thread posted on Friday has so far had thousands of views).
I don't go along with the conspiracy theory that this is the Establishment trying to squash a rebel against Mainstream Media.
It is simply media following the brilliant plan created by Max Clifford in 2000 to create a great story about a celebrity.
Urged to destroy me before I took the job of Global Chairman at EMI, Max launched his campaign (which he'd attempted with footballers and with Gary Glitter).
At that time I relied on the integrity of police and skill of expensive lawyers.
WRONG.
Then the Savile exposure came along. Much easier for media as Savile was dead.
Brand was a clear potential victim. We've all known about (and witnessed) his promiscuity and drug use - he made a point of it in his persona.
It was in the fading era when rebels were admired, not condemned.
As media promoted puritanism and feminism grew, the James Bond era of beating up and raping women for fun became, rightly, condemned.
It turned into the Lad Culture (for both men and women).
My "scandal" - I was bisexual in a time when being gay was illegal but tolerated - succeeded because it involved males.
The Savile scandal succeeded because he was dead.
The truth of the Brand scandal is clear to most of us - yes, he behaved disgracefully. And probably broke the law then by taking illegal drugs and pushing the sexual boundaries.
But in this era when "victims" WILL BE BELIEVED and nobody seems anymore to realise that people lie in order to make money, get revenge, custody of kids or through genuine delusion, and - more important - SUPERFICIALITY ROOLS OK - we shall now see HUNDREDS of fresh allegations (he had consensual sex with hundreds - I know, from experience, it doesn't take much to claim NON consensuality or lower ages by a year or two).
On his side is - a large Social Media profile (in 2001 social media was just starting). A spotlight on Police Behaviour (in 2001 they could literally get away with murder and be considered, by jurors and judges, 100% honest). A growing unease about such things as Anonymity for Liars.
Past scandals like Carl Beech and Jemma Beale.
Against him are - DPP Keir Starmer's YOU WILL BE BELIEVED EVEN IF YOU ARE LYING police instruction. The overwhelming "Support Women even when they are lying" agenda.
The "cultural bias" of "Women Never Lie".
And most of all - it's a great story. The Sunday Times are busy saying "we never paid a penny". Oh, come on. We all know the massive cash advantages of lying about sex.
But social media these days dictates the agenda. And HE IS INNOCENT is the better story. I suspect the awful reality is that some of the extremes will become violent. Physically (they already do it online).
Whether Brand will be prosecuted and convicted (as I was - for crimes that had never taken place) - who knows?
But whether he or his supporters or - quite likely - the false accusers will be attacked and possibly killed - is, I fear, the next stage of this.
Anonymity no longer works. We all knew about Huw Edwards long before he was "revealed".
Already those who like Brand will support him. Those who dislike him will oppose him. As with politicians. These days it is impossible to change opinions. Three word tabloid headlines control most thought processes.
I couldn't stand Jimmy Savile the DJ. I met him socially only once and thought him a decent man. But that has nothing to do with being certain he never committed any of the offences claimed.
I don't think I ever met Brand. He's terrible in media but I don't bother listening or watching. But having been through the tornado of insanity, I'm certain he did NOT "cross the line" and am equally certain he will be destroyed by the False Allegations Industry.
And I'm certain that society's rulers this century - the media - will win, one way or the other.

The frightening part is that no media hack DARES to mention that there may be false accusers.
George Orwell would be loving this.

Dear Sunak; you are quite right; the allegations about Russell Brand are very serious; almost as serious as those made against former No10 resident Sir Edward Heath. Hopefully they will be dealt with in similar fashion.

Hopefully this new accuser from 20 years ago is both being given support by police (is that really their job?) and has been warned that if her claims are false or exaggerated, she may get 18 years in prison like Carl Beech.

Why come out now not during Operation Yewtree when the police were hunting for celebrities and #MeToo was a massive movement? A lot of people came out of the woodwork most were lies however some were true. I do believe Susanna Reid and her ilk drove Freddie Starr to an early grave.

However no A lister who knew Jeffery Epstein has been arrested nor questioned. However I don't think Russell Brand was that much of an A lister, a 2 bit actor, a presenter for a crap reality TV show and a comedian who told jokes about sex, spunk and mensuration.

He needed Katy Perry more than she needed him for Hollywood work and publicity.

Seems the BBC are backtracking, he appeared numerous times on the network and had his crappy films aired on them.

In the mid 90s and throughout the noughties comedy was becoming was more getting edgy, risqué, alternative and controversial so were TV shows for degenerates.

I could never stand Russell Brand and I still can't, however his controversy made a lot of money for the broadcasters and production companies.

I used to read Nuts, Zoo, FHM Loaded for a chuckle or for silly discussions behind the bar (Loaded was the best magazine for sarcastic journos, movie reviews and music IMHO) I did have an girlfriend who bought me Loaded and Nuts when she did the weekly shop. I always read the letter people sent him on the sex they had; most was clearly BS.

MTV was the bollocks for several years. Celebrity Deathmatch is awful now but back then we were younger it did make me smile just like Beavis and Butt-Head I can't watch that now. B&B showed a lot of good music videos and there comments were hilarious.

The Sun of course is onto this while formerly lauding Brand as 'shagger of the year'..the same Sun that published topless pix that would now get them a jail term.

And they wonder why Glenda Slagg exists !

When will the first compo claim happen..as you can imagine in the USA it will be for millions.

If Russell Brand didn't have non-consensual sex with one of these accusers, then why did he send text messages apologizing for being selfish and asking for forgiveness?

If just being creepy and inappropriate to women is enough to get you cancelled, then Jimmy Carr and Leigh Francis could be in a lot of trouble. The way he talks to Suzie Dent on 8 out of 10 Cats is pretty inappropriate, calling her a c**k gobbler, and Leigh Francis on Bo Selecta and as Keith Lemon on Celebrity Juice are pretty inappropriate.

I am happily to say I can live without TV and radio. I have always found dick jokes cringe same with period jokes. Most I have heard in the NYC comedy clubs in the 1980's.

I have not heard of Suzie Dent and I can't be bothered to Google.

Worth urging another look at the original piece at the start of this thread, I think.
