a top Australian radio star in his 80s is being accused of groping young men.
Twitter has gone into melt down as usual..
accusation=guilt because they don't like his right wing views.
The man once said that
hedda should
"never work again in Sydney" over some slight but I support even my "enemies" when I perceive injustice.
I first heard of him when I was working on an Oz/ UK magazine and he was busted at the notorious (pretty police)
Piccadilly toilets while staying at the
Ritz in the late 80s..for
"importuning" so I covered the case.
It was huge news in Oz and the police soon realised they weren't dealing with a suburban accountant who would meekly go to their fate the next day..a court appearance and fine/admonishment from a judge and hopefully no publicity in the local rag.
No this chap had
Rupert Murdoch on his side with
The Sun and
Times guaranteeing massive public, a
top QC & support not just from pals (then)
Lord Geoffrey Archer but
Margaret Thatcher.
Charges were dropped within a day but in Australia the myth persists as
arrest= guilt as well.
Once again Champagne Socialist hedda (are there any others left?) supports a Tory. and the quaint concept.. innocent unless proved guilty in a court of law
