I've always found Salman Rushdie unreadable since Midnight's Children but KNIFE is fantastic - informative and also a love story. Well worth reading.

I quite liked Midnight's Children. I read it after reading an amusing short story by him called The Prophet's Hair, which would no doubt provoke frothing at the mouth and death threats in certain quarters.

Here's the story in full: cdn.theatlantic.com/media/archives/1981/09/248-3/132591131.pdf

I loved Midnight's Children but like others struggled with subsequent work. Knife is a thoughtful moving read though, which compares and contrasts love and hatred. Well worth a read.

I like that he just calls his attacker A rather than gives him any publicity. Would that media would do the same with these inadequate attention-seekers.
