That video about Stephen Downing has been uploaded by Don Hale, who is portrayed by Stephen Thompkinson in the drama "In Denial of Murder". www.imdb.com/title/tt0381272/?ref_=nm_flmg_t_31_act I saw it a few years ago (it used to be on YouTube) and it was quite interesting. Don Hale was portrayed as naive, but his campaigning had helped to get Downing freed on a technicality. I seem to remember Don Hale coming to the fore at the time of the Savile/"VIP" abuse allegations, and I had the impression he wasn't reliable.
Sir Edward Heath: Five UK police forces investigating child sex abuse claims involving former PM
A British journalist is one of those who has made further extraordinary claims against Sir Edward.
Journalist Don Hale said 30 years ago he was handed a dossier on an alleged Westminster paedophile ring, and shortly after his office was raided by police.
Mr Hale said among the allegations against Sir Edward concerned the whereabouts of boys from care homes who went yachting with the politician.
"He was basically recruiting boys from Jersey to go on adventure sailing trips with him at weekends on his boat Morning Cloud and there was all sorts of allegations against him in terms of what may have happened to these boys taken from care homes in Jersey," he said.
"There were claims that some of these boys didn't come back."
Reading this, I wonder if he makes stuff up:

Moor Larkin on Don Hale:
In truth Don Hale being behind this deceit came as no surprise since all of this ghost-hunting had really got started because I had happened across the book authored by Don Hale, in which Don himself had explained that Terry had died in 2010. Quite how Don explains the interviews he’s been having with Terry since then, I have no idea. However it does go some way to expose the state British journalism is in, in the 21st Century. It turns out that Don Hale is the new David Icke. He is a thwarted pro-footballer… And just like David Icke, Don began his journalist career with the BBC after injury cut short his soccer days!! Incredible coincidences!

There have indeed been several PROVEN cases over past years and I can assure you many thousands that have NOT been overturned as the victims have no money or determination. Most, faced by "the system", simply give up. But I found the film fascinating. Note the two "witnesses" - now both dead - found to have had amazing, co-incidental charges against them dropped when they agreeed to assist police by giving false witness. A good Private Investigator or, in Malkinson's case, lawyer can often get stuff on these villains. And Judges are starting to notice, when witnesses suddely die or go senile or whatever, that the lack of evidence tends to prove the defendant's case.
But these facts MUST be discovered before trials. It is so hard (and expensive) to overturn a wrongful conviction; most give up, accept their fates - there are only so many cases Appeal can take on. And THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE TO. The CCRC should do this. Or police, before trials. Or even sometimes Prosecution Lawyers (check out Liam Allen's case).
