TOPIC: Reform and Farage
#244493
Reform and Farage 1 Year ago
Rather like UKIP and stupid Brexit I reckon the right wing Reform party is a busted flush - they will probably get millions of votes but no seats at all, like UKIP. And, like Brexit, where the majority of supporters now realise it was a bad mistake, Reform voters will drop away or die of old age (most are elderly bigots). I don't think Farage will even win Clacton; his support is national not local and whilst he is witty and clever and far more charismatic than the other leaders, he'll fail (again) in becoming an MP.

Wouldn't disagree with that - but Reform's main legacy will be to seriously split the Tory vote, at a highly vulnerable and sensitive time.

After covid, rises in the cost of living and when many senior Tories are shipping out. For example, all Surrey's 11 seats are held by Tories; polls say they'll lose 5.

It is interesting and encouraging for a more "progressive" view of the world that the younger generation will effectively push these parties - and the Conservatives - out of existence. They simply won't put up with the small-world bigoted mindset.

Some interesting comments here, all pro in first video (including the gem “He shows that you can get ahead even if you’re a racist” - arguably from someone who seems to be a few sandwiches short of a picnic), pro and con in second video.

I think there's a good chance that Farage will be voted in, not just by people who share his opinions but by those, including the disaffected, who want to cock a snook at the mainstream parties and shake things up.

Farage does not live in London nor was he a stock broker.

Commodites broker is not a stock broker. What's wrong with fishing? I bet the white posh middle class lady did inherit wealth which was gained from slavery like a lot them.

I bet Novara Media which is created by vegan soya boys, like the people they approached. They must of spent ages around Clacton to find people who go with their narrative.

Jo, I am not going out and vote for anyone.

Just in case anyone wasn't clear about what Reform represent, they haven't required this candidate to stand down.

Reform UK candidate apologises over Hitler neutrality comments

A Reform UK candidate has apologised for claiming the country would be "far better" if it had "taken Hitler up on his offer of neutrality" instead of fighting the Nazis in World War Two.

Ian Gribbin, the party's candidate in Bexhill and Battle, also wrote online that women were the "sponging gender" and should be "deprived of health care".

In posts from 2022 on the Unherd magazine website, seen by the BBC, he said Winston Churchill was "abysmal" and praised Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Initially Mr Gribbin declined to comment, but later said: “I apologise for these old comments and withdraw them unreservedly and the upset that they have caused.”

He said that he himself had been “upset at the way these comments were taken out of context especially when my mother was the daughter of Russian Jews fleeing persecution.”

...

Farage defends claim PM 'doesn't understand our culture'

James O'Brien may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I think he's spot-on here, saying that Farage was slyly hinting that Sunak isn't properly British because of his ethnicity, then backtracking with the fake argument that he was referring to Sunak's class and privilege (as if Farage himself didn't go to private school and doesn't have a penny or two by the standards of ordinary people), which his supporters would then go along with while understanding the original hint.

Far right groups are gaining ground all over Europe having toned down their language, but it is still there if you listen carefully enough - and is with Farage.

Interesting Jo re the Hitler loving Reform candidate.

"Reform UK candidate apologises over Hitler neutrality comments"

It's a sign of the times that he even thought of saying it as the Far Right is on the rise everywhere.

I wonder what Israelis or their supporters in Germany thought about it?

Why does anyone listen to ginger, grumpy school bully, pro lockdown, conspiracy theorist ponce on LBC?

Seems that Reform gain poll points when he is attacked by the left wing mob. I thought the far left were supposed to be kind, loving and tolerent.

If you refer to Farage, what do you think he did wrong today - or in Clacton?

Perhaps he wasn't bullied in either locations, by those who won't vote!!

Well the Vatican supported and funded the Nazi's. So who the fuck knows Hedda? Hitler was part of the inner circles and secret members clubs.

The French didn't put much of a fight in WW2, when the Germans took over. Why the heck did the did Yanks and UK liberate France...What did the Frenchies give us in return?

A lot of veterans said they defeated the wrong Army after the war, in numerous documentaries.

My grandfather on my Father's who I loved to bits, he never spoke about the war nor did he displays his medals or show them off. If he saw Prince Phillip on TV, then his PTSD would kick in.

My other Grandfather on my Mother's side was held in Japanse POW camp, he never spoke about the war but his missing teeth, one leg taller than the other due to some form of torture and not forgetting his ripped off finger and nails which destroyed the nail beds for the rest of his life, all said a million words.

Maybe we shouldn't get involved in any wars. Pearl Harbour was done by the Yanks. After the war, USA became a very rich nation. There is only profit and death in wars.

Are you in favour of freedom of speech or expression Jo? I couldn't careless what people say as long as it's legal like their actions. Hate speech is covered in the constitution and rightly so.

It seems Labour are pandering to Muslims because if they don't they going to lose a lot of valuable votes. It's like the Democrats in the States, they pander to minority and poor folk they are likely to vote left, especially the single mothers.

Seems to the Labour Party that you can be only Jewish unless it fits their narrative/agenda.

Pearl Harbour was done by the Yanks!

Did they kill 2,400 of their own personnel too - and sink/destroy hundreds of their battleships and aircraft?

If I'm not mistaken, you've only just mentioned this yourself, GM! I abhor all violence, whether milkshakes, rocks or anything else, against anyone. The rock-thrower probably was left-wing, but given that Farage/Reform currently poses a threat to the Conservative Party, it is just possible he was a Tory!

10/10 for effort Jo, trying to spin that around.

There is nothing Conserative about the Tories and there hasn't been since Thatcher.

Nigel Farage had an Irish first wife, has had a German second wife for the past 25 years, and apparently he has just split from her and taken up with a French girlfriend according to recent press reports, so obviously he hates foreigners doesn't he.
