TOPIC: One of the Farage strengths
#244935
One of the Farage strengths 11 Months, 3 Weeks ago
is that the stupid people who voted FOR Brexit (which was not in itself a stupid idea - it was the change that was stupid) can fool themselves that it wasn't the disaster of pulling out of an arrangement that was wrong but the way Brexit has been handled. Farage is right in that it's been handled badly but wrong in saying it should have been more bonkers not less so. If a deal could be worked out continuing the good parts of a customs unuion and shared access whilst allowing unique advantages of separation, we'd all be happier. But simplistic Farage slogans convince the brain dead he's right. I use the word RIGHT intentionally.

Jeremy Corbyn wanted to do sensible deals on Brexit as you rightly say but was scuppered by the ghastly Starmer.

And then repeatedly stabbed in the back by him any time he thought it gained him points.

However, I hope Starmer et al do move by stealth back towards the EU as the right wing press are little hysterical about currently. There was nothing "democratic" about a referendum built on lies. And it is obvious the majority now in the UK regret Brexit.

The ballot paper said nothing about deals. It was either Leave or Remain in the EU.

Political slogans have always been simplistic, and that's why they are highlty effective. "LABOUR ISN'T WORKING" is the obvious one from the 1979 election under Thatcher. Nothing new about such things.

The stupid people who voted for Brexit eh? Give it a rest! 8 years later and still huffing and puffing like this is the stupid bit.

re Brexit deal: Boris Johnson negotiated a Brexit withdrawal deal after the referendum.

His deal was useless. Jeremy Corbyn wanted to negotiate a better deal but was scuppered by the (ghastly" Keir Starmer who deliberately used Brexit to scupper Corbyn's and Labour's election campaign.

Again the UK public voted to leave not have deals. The establishment fucked up Brexit on purpose and they hope the UK will rejoin the EU under a new name. It's going to happen.

What the public voted to have no further trade with European countries? You have to have a deal, a framework, to trade. Or travel between countries.

We had one; it was called The European Union, which we left. Of course something similar would replace it.

WTF did anyone voting for Brexit expect to happen? A return to a localised pre global economy?

And they call the pro-EU side idealistic!

Yes, we had a trade deal but we bound to EU laws. The idea of Brexit was to trade globally and control our own borders...the globalists and MP's threw all that out the window.

So we are agreed that Brexit has had a negative impact on the UK. Trade is down within and outside the EU, we are all worse off.

Some of us said this was perfectly predictable before the vote and not because "globalist and MPs" would deliberately sabotage Brexit.

Why does there have to always be a conspiracy GM? 🤔

Elsewhere on this site "Ben" has criticised JK for still talking about the stupidity of Brexit 8 years after the vote. But the effects and lies of Brexit are very much alive today.

The only boring spin on Brexit, for me, is Brexiteers explaining away the failure of their pet project not on the decision itself but on vague nefarious forces acting against them.

They should man up and own their failed thinking.
