JD Vance 11 Months ago
How utterly bizarre is it that Donald Trumpchose a new VP running mate, nutjob JD Vance because his previous VP Mike Pence has declined to support him possibly due to the fact Trump's MAGA supporters wanted to hang him from a scaffold on Jan 6th.

Can US politics get any odder?. Vance has said the most terrible things about Trump in the past yet "teflon" Don is ignoring it (a further sign of a
dementing mind ? or imposed by those creepy billionaires bankrolling the Republicans.)

Note 1: I have backflipped on Joe Biden and absolutely loathe the Gaza destroyer & his bromance with the hideous Netenyahu.

Note2: Keir Starmer is still ghastly and Long Live Magic Grandpa Jeremy Corbyn.

It's odd that Trump picked well known Neo-Con JD Vance.

My guess is that Vance is a minor celebrity after selling the rights to his memoir to Ron Howard. David Lammy is very vocal against but likes JD Vance.

Trump has also pulled out a trump card so he might have to meet David Lammy in person.

It's been a while since I read JD Vance's memoir, Hillbilly Elegy, which was an interesting read, but I seem to recall being left with the impression of a not very pleasant character. Someone who runs a website for which Vance had written articles many years ago was interviewed on TV yesterday and he acknowledged that Vance was highly intelligent (he apparently graduated summa cum laude with a BA in political science and philosophy, then got a Doctor of Law from Yale) but very flexible in his morals and political opinions. Perhaps his turnaround on Trump is largely down to ambition. Trump may have chosen him because he thinks he's the best option for Trump. It could also be an advantage having someone who has changed his mind on Trump, to persuade voters to do the same.

Seeing Biden climbing the stairs of an aircraft on the news this morning was painful. He looks so creaky.

It seems he's not listening to moderates in his party saying voters don't have confidence in him.

Biden raised his voice over House Dem commander-in-chief concerns: ‘I don’t want to hear that crap’

I agree Jo that Biden looks "creaky" these days and is, well old.

He is still Wall Street's preferred candidate but what is being ignored here is policy..and Biden has done extremely well but..in this day and age Trump can make any false claim as he did a couple of weeks ago when he outrageously claimed credit for reducing the cost of Diabetes Insulin which was only achieved by Biden.

For the MAGA Mob Trump can make any absurd claim and it's not just accepted but ignored by the USA media (as his blatant debate lies have been) who I believe collectively don't care about the truth or policy but see Trump as a more exciting president for future sales than Biden who is quite dreary.

I despise Biden though over his actions in supplying the weapons to murder Palestinians and hearing Trump say at the debate that Israel should "finish the job" sent chills down my spine.

Do Americans really care about the 1000s of Arab children killed in their name or are they so insular they bellyache about paying a few more cents for petrol for their 4 wheel drives?.

Ideally we would of course not have a doddery US President with dementia. But as Hedda mentions no one talks about policy now, and his are much better and more humane that whatever drivel comes out of Trump's mouth.

Biden has people around him to implement policy. In an ideal - or even well functioning world - neither Biden or Trump would be standing.

But as they are, any sane civilised person must hope for a Biden, or Democrat anyway, win.

What is your solution? Most Yanks just want to get on and living off credit cards and pay cheque to pay cheque.

America is bankrupt. If you are so concerned Hedda, fly over to Israel go all John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. If needed throw in some kung fu.

If he is unhealthy and can't wipe his butt he is still a better option than Trump. Call it TDS if you like! It won't deflect me

Biden definitely has old age symptoms..slow careful walking, an occasional word mistake not helped by a stutter (if you know anyone with a stutter as my older brother had ..as he aged the stutter although controlled still caused him to fumble words.)

Joe Biden does have an excellent team who basically run the country.

The fact is sensible voters should vote on performance and policy not personality and I believe the majority of Americans do so.

Biden's economic policies have been excellent and productive and my US Democrat pals and Repub pals (who are not fanatical MAGAs) all agree.

I'm glad I do not have to vote there though. I think Donald Trump is a real danger to USA freedoms and his hard core tens of millions of MAGAs are dangerous.

## and he owes me $3000 from 2009 for a little job he described as an "excellent result"..not that I ever met him or spoke to him but via his workers on the project who after 2/3 drinks at night said what an awful boss he was.

But I now despise Joe Biden over his actions in perpetuating the destruction of Gaza and the deaths of so many Palestinians. It's unforgivable.
