TOPIC: Prison overcrowding
#246958
Prison overcrowding 9 Months, 4 Weeks ago
I was fortunate in being able to meet and experience prison life - meeting hundreds of prisoners, officers and staff. Many were guilty and admitted it to me though most of those were guilty of far lesser crimes than convicted (inflation is not just a media vice - police and prosecution specialise in it to get convictions). Some were totally innocent (not including me - I was indeed guilty of other crimes; just not guilty of the five false accusers). We are seeing this now (RIOT instead of violent disorder). Using the Law to Break the Law - the major crime this century (already started last century). Release prisoners early - great, especially when those inmates were innocent (Malkinson; Post Office etc). But why only NON violent or sex offenders? Why not someone of 17 who may have wrongly had sex with a 15 year old? Are they really so dangerous they don't deserve early release? Is the system really incapable of examining all cases as INDIVIDUAL? Is the system incapable of refusing to be run by media coverage?

And all ministers (including the Prime) should be banned from using the words "we have inherited". Nobody cares anymore how something happened - stop making excuses; deal with it.

The system is capable of doing this but the politicians won't allow it. They have run scared of old media for a long time and new media has compounded the problem. I suppose in a way it is quite "democratic" because most people want the criminal justice system run in a retributive and reactionary way. Eventually we will see the return of capital punishment.

As the opposition leader, it was Starmer's job to prevent the things he is complaining of now, so it would be wise for him to shut up about it.

When in opposition Starmer damned the Gov for the economic effects of lockdowns while simultaneously calling for harder and longer lockdowns. We are not dealing with a principled agent.

I agree Wyot, people have short memories, I guess they rather watch sports or their Swiftie gigs than think about the damage caused by the globalists in recent years.

Starmer is a snake.
