Originally viewed as a fantastic concept - with seaside holiday homes, city centre apartments, and other types of interesting places on the market, for modest rental prices.
Mostly being let (currently) by second home owners - who simply employ a letting agency, which is indifferent to the status of the proposed short-term tennant - sourced through the internet.
Badly abused now, and dangerous. Details are often totally inaccurate, with manufacturerd pictures. 'Easy parking (only for Lweis Hamilton' - 'Simple access (ignoring 80 steps)'.
Other efficiencies include - agent is unavailable/unknown building site next door/gardens unkempt. Like buying a car - from a photograph.
I have read one horror about Airbnb that was a house for rent with a pool and BBQ and so on. I think it was advertised as a so-called holiday home.
The house belonged to a homeowner who had nothing to do with the ad or Airbnb. Someone used his house for fancy photos and adverts to get dirty money. It's not like the police are going to dig too deeply into a case like that.
I can see why people look at Airbnb though, hotels are closing or have closed for the general public, and hotels do put prices up when there are big events like Oasis for example near the hotel.
B&Bs are not cheap either these days and can be awkward for those with disabilities due to steps and stairs. Some B&Bs want you back in at a certain time.
