Finally the BBC repeat it after 40 years. The ultimate horror show. Nuclear war as witnessed through a handful of Sheffield folk. Terrified the life out of me when it was first broadcast. In those days we had strong competent leaders too. The writer Barry Hines later admitted it probably wasn't quite horrific enough, and an all out nuclear exchange between the West and Russia today would be far far worse than anyone could imagine. Threads is on BBC 4 tonight at 10.20. It will then be available on the iplayer.

I remember buying it on dvd a few years ago and finding it very dated. I always found Patick Allen's voice on the "Protect and Survive" films quite scary. He re-voiced a clip for Frankie Goes to Hollywood's two tribes record. "When you hear the Air Raid Warning, you and your family must take cover.

Well it was made 40 years ago. Yes, the Pi films were extremely grim. Patrick Allen giving advice as to what to do with the bodies as your loved ones die. Horrible. Humans are insane.

I remember the Doomsday Clock. I used to be obsessed about it. I remember it once being at two or three minutes to midnight and finding that terrifying. So I just looked it up to see if they still do the thing, and they do, and it's even closer than when I was terrified by it, at a minute and a half to midnight, 11:58:30pm. But I think it's become woke because they now take into account the so called climate emergency as well, so while I was once yterrified of the clock I'm looking at it as a piece of nonsense manipulated by academics now with an agenda.
