Watching all the Bond movies on Prime in chronological order. Beginning with Dr No..Connery is still my favourite Bond. He didn't age well. By the time he did Diamonds Are Forever he was podgy and grey. Moore's movies was more camp and amusing. As were Brosnans. I know a few people who claim Dalton's Bond was the best. For me he lacked the charm. Never could take to Daniel Craig. But I will revisit them all. Maybe I'll change my mind. Lol.
Dalton looked like Bond on a lot of covers of the old Bond novels. He should have done more.
Neil Dickson would have made a good Bond but I think Biggles was a bit of a flop despite being very corny it is very watchable. The movie was a bit of a poison chalice, neither of the cast went on to bigger stuff apart from voiceovers and Peter Cushion was on his last legs.
Marcus Gilbert would have made a good Bond villain, he was good in Rambo 3.
Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan were my favourites too, precisely because the films with them were more light-hearted. I also prefer the older Bond films to the newer ones, which have too much rushing around for my liking and I'm not keen on computer-generated special effects, which often look fake.
The Brosnan and Craig ones bored me to the point where I dozed off watching them. Craig always looked as though he had a large walnut up his arse.
For all the hype they get, these movies are just not that well-made, and rarely bother the judges of critical awards. It's high time they toned down the hysteria they whip up and concentrate on drawing people in with a story that's actually absorbing. Did they actually kill Bond in the last one (I didn't see it)? That's crazy. And now they're trying to figure out how to 'un-kill' him? Doesn't anyone think this stuff through?
In my view they should go back to Fleming's original novels and film one of them as a period piece - it would force them to cut down on the gadgets and silly locations and concentrate more on character.
