Must have watched this 20 times (it's on BBC2 now). One of the greatest films ever made. People forget Robert Morley's excellent part in it. It is essentially a two hander with Bogart and Hepburn utterly magnificent - possibly both their finest roles. But Morley is great in his early role too, as Hepburn's brother the Reverend.

My two favourite Bogart films--The African Queen and the Treasure of the Sierra Madre. Bogart didn't have the classic good looks of other stars, but the camera still adores him.

Sadly he died when 57 - he smoked and drank a fair bit. Met his last wife, Lauren Bachall, on a film set; she - 19; he - 44. Yes 2 of my favourite films and Bogart and Hepburn were magnificent in the African Queen.

When I lived just off Portobello Road and was going for an early walk I suddenly heard this recognizable voice commenting on some antiques in a shop..Katherine Hepburn with another lady.
