What is wrong with these parents!?

www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c154ne70kzeo

Death after death, warning after warning and they let an XL Bully live in the same house as their ten-year-old child...
Heartbreaking but the blind stupidity of these people is hard to fathom...

Surely allowing such dogs now to continue to reside in houses with children in should be a matter for children's services - neglect by the parents? Re house the dog or take the children into care.

It seems these dog's cannot be domesticated only in the the mind's of the deluded.

I have only seen then been walked by those with a sandwich short of a picnic. They do have them muzzled though.

There needs to be an outright ban now.

This breed of dog is the equivalent of letting your child live and play with a venemous snake.

Children's services remove kids from unsafe environments where despite advice parents continue to put them at risk of serious injury or death. I think this particular breed of dog needs to be seen in this light now. Give the parents a chance to re house the dogs and if they refuse take the children into care.

Though what would be better is deploying the army to track down every last xl bully in the country and shoot them between the eyes.

Maybe the parents thought the dog's "certificate of exemption" made it exempt from behaving like an XL bully. I agree with the idea that parents should be given an ultimatum by social services to get rid of these dogs or risk losing their children.

There seems to be a tendency these days for people to view pets as surrogate children, e.g. pet owners referring to themselves as the "mum/dad/parents" of the pet. A bit weird, and weirder still - and possibly indicative of outright foolishness, when it comes to dogs, let alone dangerous breeds - is couples having a baby and introducing the pet to the baby as the pet's new "brother/sister" (or vice versa).

You cant exempt dogs from being dogs though, and all of them might snap instinctively if they are hurt, or ill, or stepped on.

One of my dogs bit my granddaughter. He is a chihuahua so nothing happened except she learned not to poke him when he said no.
You cant do that with a giant dog.

The problem is that vicious violent scumbags keep XL Bullys because of their reputation and the way they look. You wont see a Robert Morley in a cravat clutching an XL Bully in his arms. That's as snobbish as I get. But it's true.

Even Giant Haystacks would have trouble clutching an XL Bully in his arms!

Dogs will be dogs and I love them, but when Bully's snap instinctively they do so with jaws that could snap steel, and then decide to underline the point by ripping the person's throat out...

I am with you on XL dogs Wyot, no one needs a hybrid breed like that.

Kelis Smith reminds me of the cult members from sects you used to see in airports in the past.

When they looked at you, there was nothing behind their eyes.

Now, another kid and his family will go through life changes because of stupid people.

Maybe the police should stop looking for mean Tweets or memes and walk the streets and look for ads for XL dogs. I do think some officers could do with a good walk. Every time they take out an XL Bully, give a police a little bonus. Most dog attacks can be avoided by leads and training. I did know some twatty Yorkie cross-type dog from a toxic relationship, that bit joggers and cyclists. The dog was a waste of space so was that ex-girlfriend.

I don't think she put the dog down but I was not surprised it was not booted by a jogger after witnessing a bad nip. If the jogger or cyclist did kick the mutt, I could justify the man's reaction.

During C19, we were told to grass up neighbours, people need to grass XL bully owners.

Absolutely GM. The Government must take responsibility from idiot owners and round up these dogs, take them away secure them or shoot them. The first job of a state is to protect its citizens. We can't treat this breed like other dog breeds, the evidence is overwhelming.

I agree Wyot, but you are making and talking too much sense. That is not allowed. We are not allowed to think like that, the government and police think for us.

Obviously a dog that size and strength is a danger, but it seems that the dogs who have attacked all stem from the same killer dog, who has tainted the line.

I wonder if the was the type of bloke who says"It won't bite mate"? When a dog bites its owner, it's your fault.

it makes you wonder if owners like this have any testosterone hormones. It's not the mouthy people you have to be wary of - it's the silent ones.
