I've never seen eye to eye with top Aust broadcaster Alan Jones but it's sad to see him arrested today over so called historic groping charges.

Jones was arrested back in the 80s while on holiday in the UK. Staying at The Ritz he foolishly called into the notorious Picadilly toilets where West End police routinely falsely arrested men on charges difficult to fight.

He probably looked for all the world like a Suburban accountant who would not fight back and accept a Magistrates fine the following day.

Instead he announced he would fight it and had 2 quite powerful friends who supported him : Margaret Thatcher and Rupert Murdoch. Charges were dropped 2 days later.

So of course the Oz media has gone ape-shit and social media are beside themselves making endless accusations (they just know he's guilty) calling hi "rock spider" despite the claims are all by men.

The usual claptrap " "victims" not accusers. I've had an argy bargy with the hack as she keeps using the word "victim" even whilst those interviewing her say alleged victims.

Comparisons to Cardinal Pell who, err was found to be innocent.

What shocks me..as you didn't really see in before social media..is the sheer legal ignorance of some people who are quite infuential.

Years ago Jones said of Hedda to a PR firm :"he should never work in Sydney again" over some alleged slight.

Oddly work picked up dramatically until only ill-health nipped a lot of activity in the bud.

I often go into bat over perceived enemies and always want the truth to prevail for everyone accused.

I'm quite alarmed over the viciousness directed at Jones merely because they don't like his right wing politics.

They did the same with George Pell of course..his crime was conservatism.
