News of the passing of the 1979 World Snooker Champion Terry Griffiths came through just as the UK Championship final had ended on Sunday night, a tournament he also won in 1982. Good timing.
I had no idea he was even ill. Complications from dementia and only 77. It comes just a few months after the other Welsh six times World champion Ray Reardon also left us in July this year.

Yes, very sad news. I remember him winning the world title at the first attempt in 1979. A very gentle man, known for his bouffant hairstyle and welsh lilt. Why were the Welsh so good at snooker in the 70s and 80s (Reardon, Griffiths, Doug Mountjoy.
