TOPIC: I'm A Celebrity

I'm A Celebrity 6 Months, 1 Week ago
It's a show I have never watched or taken real notice of.

My partner was watching on catchup. When I saw glimpses of it, I saw nothing but animal cruelty.

Reptiles can die from shock and stress. I have read they used to eat bugs for 'entertainment'. People only care about animals when it suits them.

Am I now turning woke?

It's totally impossible to make meaningful comments about a show you've never watched...

Caring about animal cruelty doesn't make you woke or any other ridiculous label. I've never watched it either. Never will. If people stop caring about animals for fear of being labelled 'woke' then mankind has one hell of an uphill battle. As do animals.

No GM you are not turning woke, I fully agree with you. I watched the very first one 22 years ago that Tony Blackburn won and I also watched the one with John Lydon in it, but these were twenty years ago when it was at least half or more stuffed with genuine celebrity of note. I think some of the cockroaches are bigger celebs now than most of the humans. I wouldn't waste a moment of my time on it.

But I do agree on the cruelty and disrespect to wildlife, snakes as well and other creatures. In this day and age it amazes me that this is still seen as acceptable on mainstream TV to be amused by. Why haven't they been shamed into stopping this by now by the likes of Chris Packham who is at least vocal on this issue with the show I think.

Just how many times do people actually want to see the same testicle eating, worm infested so called "games" anyway. It's been the exact same every year for more than 20 years now. I'd like to see the presenters having cockroaches in their pants or their own testicles eaten for once!

I wonder what the RSPCA's official position is on this. They exist in Australia as well as here.

But you are most certainly NOT woke for thinking like this. You can relax now, you're not on the turn GM.

Thank you Rich and Cat.

The creatures are treated like cheap props and treated like circus animals. Factory bred bugs sounds very cruel, bugs are not everyone cup of tea but they do serve a purpose. Also wiring shutting crocodiles mouths shut is like using trip wires in old Westerns movies to trip horses over.

So why are they not getting called out on this cruelty a lot more?

The whole thing shows an incredible disprespect for wildlife in general, and the place isn't even a real jungle is it, but nothing more than a televisual prop pretending to be one that is probably 5 minutes walk from a McDonalds in truth.

I think they use baby crocodiles and clockwork larger ones. Nobody's mouth is taped shut as far as I know?

I enjoyed it when they had the full live feed, but the edited version is pointless for me.

What I have read is the camp is just off a retreat so everything is nearby. I would not be surprised if the producer brings the bellends some food in secret. Of course the production company will edit out any deaths of innocent bugs and reptiles.
