On my bucket list - visit both South and North Korea. It's never going to happen now I'm 80, hate long flights and the two countries seem to hate each other (until or unless the North does an Assad).
I love the Orient (not Japan, which I hated). China - fab. Thailand - more fab.
But Korea seems fascinating.

Just love Thailand as the Land of Smiles is exactly that.

I am fascinated by North Korea and would have visited in my heydays of traveling but aching bones has now put a paid to complicated travel.

A visit to a supermarket is like a holiday to me.

Queues and questions make me cranky. Organising a holiday would do my head in.

Thank God I traveled when I did. I watched a TV program abut Rome recently and the queues to visit the Coliseum.

When I visited it in the 1970s there were about 12 other tourists and 100 cats.

But Korea seems fascinating. The North Koreans don't seem to understand the words 'Fight Back!' Jong Un also starves the majority of course to sap their energy. But it would be glorious to see a push back. We never will there.

Or stop crying and wailing uncontrollably. Although it's good for a laugh to our western eyes, but this type of behaviour is also deeply sinister, it's genuinely hard to tell if they mean it or are acting it, behaving like this over the death of a 70 year old man none of them have ever met and who would snuff out their own lives without a flinch if he thought there was a hint of dissent. I pray one day these people will be rescued from the biggest prison and execution site in the world.

It wpould be a peculiarly fascinating place to visit, but you'd have a minder and be tightly restricted, and to be honest I don't think I'd chance it, just think about American Otto Warmbier who the regime murdered aged 22 on a visit, and who would only have been 30 last week.
