Bye Bye Post Office 4 Months, 2 Weeks ago
So many things rapidly changing but we really are in the era of knowing the cost of everything but not the value of so many things.

Jeff Bezos is trying to convince Trump to privatise with the US Postal Service.

The UK selling of the Post Office has been a disaster.

In the future we may be only able to send packages or mail via Amazon and it will be priced to make a profit (the US postal service operates at a loss)

I can see a time where the post office will not home deliver rather you will have to collect mail from an office and possibly pay a price for it.

Just the beginning of an era where any perceived type of "socialism" must be strangled at birth including so many non profit areas such as roads which could become tollways (Australia is full of the wretched things which means those in outer suburbs are hit for $100s a week just to go back and forth to work and State governments having to introduce subsidies for residents)

The USA is going to be up for sale lock stock and barrel.

It's only junk mail and Ebay that keeps the Post Offices going.

I sent some cards yesterday and a small parcel. I thought I would be queing by the door like the Olde days.

True email has made an enormous difference. But email can be a nightmare for older folk with it's godawful "unique password with upper & lower case etc etc ".

If British Post is awful as I'm sure it is then it's privatization that is at fault just like the dreadful utilities.

Never had complaints from Royal Mail and Post Office.

Apart from postage is now really expensive compared to the rest of the world.

I got a Christmas card a couple of days ago with a 1st class stamp on it of an archery board from the London 2012 Paralympic Games. That would have been 60p then, already a rise of 14p from 2011.

priceofastamp.co.uk/

It was nice to have a stamp without the wretched barcode down the right hand side spoiling it. The Royal Mail is not just ripping people off with extortionate stamp prices but physically wrecking them too.

Also just discovered this astounding fact, it now costs the same to mail a card/letter just the other side of the Channel to Brittany in France as it does to down under in Australia and New Zealand! No price difference whatsoever. How come? Imagine paying the same fare on BA to Sydney as you would to Paris.

When I posted a few cards for people I care about, the top-heavy Post Office lady said there is a backlog at Royal Mail.

So sending stuff Second Class would be the same as Sending stuff First Class the only difference is the price.

I did like sending US Dollars to my daughters but the exchange rates are so shit these days. Which sort of puts me off. Even having an account with the travel agents to give me the best prices it's still not much better.

Depending on what you order on eBay a lot of sellers use other couriers, as long as you send things tracked they are just the same as Royal Mail.

The days of the theatre posting out tickets are not common it's only the big theatres that will post tickets. It's E-tickets now if you order online. I don't think you get tickets sent by post for sporting events.
