TOPIC: Peter Mandelson

Peter Mandelson 4 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I thought the US and UK wanted to build bridges not burn them.

No way will Mandleson get the humour that New Yorkers have. Starmer is a moron for giving Mandleson the role of an Ambassador. I can picture Mandleson sitting on his own at meetings or parties like Starmer does.

PM isn't going to New York, as US Ambassador, to humour the locals or to attend parties - but because of his unrivalled trade experience.

As president of the Board of Trade here - and working at the European Union; his previous roles will be reprised. Cementing and opening trade links with the US.

He will be laughed at and no doubt he would be the piggie in the Pig In The Middle or Keep Away as the Yanks call it.

Mandelson has made some of the most offensive comments about the leader of a western ally that it's possible to make, so obviously Starmer thinks he's perfect for the top diplomatic role in the country of that leader.

That comment disqualifies him immediately from this role in my opinion. How could Trump tolerate somebody who's said those things in such a role in his country?

Mandelson is everything that is rotten and wrong about modern politics. Blair once said "A new dawn has risen has it not", which needs updating to "A new darkness has descended has it not".

I still feel total comtempt for the Tories for being so bad that they handed the country to this lot, and I get madder still at Boris Johnson for his spectacular incompetence in blowing such a magnificent chance some of us gave him with our lent votes. Johnson allowed the Labour corpse the full resurrection, including Mandelson yet again despite twice being disgraced by resigning cabinet.

Mandleson has indeed made very derogatory comments about Donald Trump although I have no doubt his qualifications were fine.

At the same time the Australian ambassador to the US former PM Kevin Rudd has also made even worse comments about Trump and he's still there..for now.

Well firstly Joe Biden is still the leader of the free world, for another month, also lots of people have insulted Trump, and he instantly forgets, such as JD Vance, who said that he was the nearest thing to Hitler that we had. Also Elon Musk has been critical. Lammy was critical, but went to have dinner and got second helpings of Chicken. They know that its all part of the game, and at the end of the day, and Trump, or whoever is really in charge whilst the aged man is no the golf course just wants the best deal, to the one that will win the most vote.
