TOPIC: Calamity Jane

Calamity Jane 4 Months, 2 Weeks ago
One of my very favourite childhood films with the gorgeous Doris Day, some great songs, Howard Keel and much more. Thank you BBC2 for this Christmas gift. Doris recorded my song about the Moon and I still get royalties from her version. I met her son Terry in the 60s who was a similar age to me and a successful record producer.

And of course Jimmy Hanley. He of The Blue Lamp--which I just watched the other day. I do love the old British movies, especially Ealing comedies.

When I was a young man I did have a few male crushes that quickly phased out.

You and Tony Blackburn have something in common, he's always drooling over Doris Day on the radio as his big love. Just about the only track of hers he gets to play on his sixties show is Move Over Darling though! The first time I ever heard that song it was actually sung by Tracey Ullmann, such is my youth!

I used to love all those musicals as a kid (until the Beatles came along).

Calamity Jane, Showboat, Carousel, My Fair Lady etc.

Used to sit around home listening to them whilst filing my nails.

Never understood why my much older brother's girlfriend called me a "camp little thing".
