How many minutes does a cigarette knock off the life of a smoker?

Frightened news! I never had one - wish I could say the same about alcohol.

17 minutes? Utter nonsense. I smoked 40 a day from aged 15 to 50. Now I'm no mathematician but I should be according to them.. pressing hard up agin the daisies.

Never fall for general figures. Individuals react differently to everything. One man's poison is another girl's nectar.

Straight out of what the late journalist Keith Waterhouse used to refer to as the Department Of Guesswork.

Anyone remember that? Never been truer.

Considering the amount of roll ups my grandfather used to smoke daily all his life for what must have been 75 years until his 90's I suppose he would have reached the age of 150 if he'd never touched them.

Brandy is my greatest weakness. I can polish off a bottle in an evening, but I don't get drunk. 10 years without a cigarette. But with brandy I am at peace with the cosmos and twinkle with the stars. If the world ends at Midnight I will be smiling.

I prefer Calvados on the rare occasions I drink.
