At a time when there are serious misgivings being raised about the Letby case from some very esteemed people, some involved directly with the court case, this very strange BBC article has appeared this evening which seems to be oblivious to many of the recent doubts raised and is doubling down hard on the fact that she is a killer of babies. She might be of course, but in the context of all the doubt about her conviction, and if there were even any actual murders at all rather than natural deaths, this article seems completely at odds.
We know she's been convicted and the facts of the case have been well reported so I'm unsure why we suddenly needed this today. Surely a serious journalist wanting a real story would be more interested in probing the doubt around the case and trying to find a real story there instead, if there is one.
This immediately seemed weird to me at the current moment, maybe it suggests the BBC hold their own view on Letby just like they do on politics and that they don't think her conviction is unsafe or is even worth looking into as a terrible miscarriage.
