OK - again it's simplistic but the overall absurdity has been rectified. Perhaps now men who use women's changing rooms and toilets, explaining they are "women", may decide not to behave in this way.

There are coaches in the United States who are trying to recruit for their womens teams as many trans women as possible, or even an entire trans team of men claiming to identify as women just in order to get competitive advantage over other genuine female teams. This is sick and cynical.

We are in a world of constant drug testing to get rid of unfair advantage and they throw the book at you if caught, yet apparently you can cynically play these gender identity tricks and not just get away with it but also be welcomed and encouraged doing so.

To be fair Man Utd women could still beat the Man Utd men's team.

It's not difficult to disagree with this for men who have gone through puberty and now identify as female, even if they've had hormone treatment and surgery, but I wonder what this means for children born male but who have transitioned to being female and what it means for their treatment in sport, life and medical care. Will Trump just stop at banning men from women's sports or will he also take a cudgel to medical treatment for people who need it?

I have to admit to finding the apparent surge in people thinking they're stuck in the wrong body baffling, and wonder if it's partly due to a craze, particularly among young people, or if mental illness has something to do with it. But homosexuality used to be considered a mental illness and we now know that's incorrect.

Also many claim to be women so they can get in to women spaces like dressing rooms or prisons. If the women made a fuss that he was changing in their changing room the poor women would have been called "transphobic". I just wish the NHS could follow Trump lead over this.

Not forgetting there were numerous injuries caused by men in women sports, another fact that the far left ignore.

Jo, I think the apparent surge could be something along the spectrum of mass hysteria. The subjeect of mass hysteria is well worth reading about because I think it is happening to a certain degree with a number of things, even down to the re-election of Trump, and social media and the internet has made it easier for mass hysteria to take hold. There are obviously various levels of severity within mass hysteria.

There is also a thought that many of these males wanting to trans to female or vice versa are nothing more than normal gay males & females and in some parts of the United States for example they are still in the dark ages with views on this and parents of youngsters might prefer encouraging a son they have, or daughter, to switch gender rather than simply be gay. If nothing else, at the younger age it's simple sexual confusion waiting to play out.

Do not even begin to ask me why men like Eddie Izzard and others his age have decided they want to start using women's toilets at his time of life, he wants to wake up each day and decide which gender he is rather like changing his socks. There are clearly bullshitters out there deliberately pushing their luck for attention and exhibitionism having felt emboldened by the climate that has been created.

What I don't get is that nobody was having any problem with men who had the full sex change into women which has been going on for decades now. This was largely accepted without question and almost not worth mentioning anymore, until this trans fad came along in recent times. From 45 years ago now, in 1979/80, the story of George who became Julia Grant was followed on BBC at the time and is well known. The series is still available on BBC iPLayer. He faced challenges at the time but was mostly accepted for his decision and as a woman. But the story of George becoming Julia and other men like him at this time seems a world away from what we have got now.

Actually it's a 5 parter, 3 shown in 1980, another catch up in 1994 and a final one in 1998. Julia Grant passed away at the start of 2019.
