TOPIC: Firing cops accused of crimes
#255170
Firing cops accused of crimes 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Amusing to see the outrage by police chiefs that officers accused (often falsely) cannot be fired. It makes no sense to me that accusations mean guilt. Automatically. My friend Gambo was appalled when the BBC suspended him the moment false accusations were made. Out go Gregg Wallace, Wynne Evans, Gino... the list is endless as the Presumption of Guilt replaces the Presumption of Innocence.

And just a mis-placed mis-timed comment is all that it takes. Humans can sometimes be silly, playful. It's what helps us get through the day. People are not pre programmed Automatons. And all this fuss about AI, when we are creating mutant humans whose entire lives hang in the balance and can be destroyed by the wrong joke. wtaf!

It is all rather terrifying.

We throw away rights and protections fought for and accrued over centuries, in order to save careers in a febrile media (and social media) world.

Why can so many now not simply say I don't know?

I don't know if Wallace is a sex pest but I see an accusation has been made. Perhaps we will find out in time. But I will never really know because I wasn't there. And even if I had been there that would only be my interpretation; and I am not judge and jury. I'm just not that important.

Where have things like patience, forebearance, humility gone? They seem to be disappearing from humanity at an alarming rate; and worse, are now seen as signs of weakness, of failure.

Can't the millions who act and judge in this fearful myopic way not see that it can just as easily be applied to them as anyone else?
