TOPIC: My Uncle

My Uncle 3 Months, 1 Week ago
He died this morning of heart failure. He was just 69. 9 years my senior. I am not grieving. As a young man he joined the Met police. Served 35 years. I saw even worse changes in his character. He became quite viscerally racist. And the last few times I saw him displayed little empathy, he hated most people, but mostly those of different races and cultures. Swigging back on a hip flask he often spoke at length how the Nazis had their good points. As a kid I was frightened of him. He once lunged at me for destroying a puzzle ring he had put together. I was about 10.I picked it up thinking it was just a skull and crossbones ring, and it fell apart in my hands. He chased me through the old dark rambling house that belonged to my Grandparents. I kicked him on the shin when he grabbed me. Not a nice man. I have informed the rest of the family I will not be attending his funeral. RIP

"Never touch what is not yours" I was told by my uncle.

My uncle was a wild man, he lived by his own rules. Never had much money but he went to America a lot, got me my first job there, as he knew the bar owner, and helped me immigrate over there when I was in my teens. I still don't know if I was there legally or not. I was paid cash in hand, met my first serious girlfriend who gave birth to my daughters.

I learnt a lot there and set up a little club with a group of mates, I sold my share way too early to a poofy Canadian lawyer.

I hate most people also Cat, they stab you in the back, they pretend to be your friends until they get what they want from you not forgetting most people only care about you when you die. To say what a great person you were if there is will to be read.

I am sure your uncle had some qualities that you didn't see.

Oh he wasn't an evil man GM. Just a bit of a bully. Walked over people. From what I've learned today he was some quite big sort in a Freemason Lodge. Just a man with a chip on his shoulder.
