I agree with his comments on the Laura Kuenssberg show. 'The dark shadow of fascism' and 'Power only talks to Power'. It needs the Frys to get out there and speak. They do have influence, and of course limited 'power'. Some of us, like me, have no influence or power whatsoever. No-one gives a flying fook what I say. Yes, we have the ballot box. My main concern is if the ballot box becomes meaningless and any morsel of democracy and influence of the Joe Bloggs is murdered.

Fry will doubtless say the opposite when the mood takes him. He's the great contrarian of his age. If he spoke with a Brummie accent he'd be mocked for his hopeless confusion and contradictions. As it is, ludicrously, people's deep-instilled instinct to tug their forelock at the sound of a posh voice makes them sure he's a genius.

(By the way, is this week one of the ones where he thinks that social media is brilliant, or is it one of the ones where he is adamant it's hellish? If it's the former, I'd like to avoid reading his witterings.)

I agree Ged, I have seen recent podcasts he can be very conservative when it suits him, then he switches views on another podcast.

I think his time doing porridge is the first and only time he has lived in the real world.
