TOPIC: King on Trump 25/2/25

I'm totally opposed to many Trump policies but...
He's right about NATO - it has been a disgrace that so many countries have failed to provide their pledged support for NATO for years.
He's right about Ukraine and Russia - how it is sorted God knows but killing MUST stop, talking MUST start. I suspect both sides have been wrong in the past and present.
He's right about Gaza/Israel though, for me, a two state solution must be enforced.
He's right about cleaning out the "civil service" problems in the USA - we need to do the same in the UK.

Wonder how Starmer thinks the Good Friday Agreement happened? It happened through talking, compromises and deals. Doubling down on aggression is not going to end the Russia/Ukraine war. So I do applaud DT for his stance. And no it won't be pretty. Tough decisions have to be made. But on both sides. Putin has to accept this too.

Trump is now about to impose tariffs on Mexico and Canada after delaying. He will be breaking the current USMCA trade agreement between the 3 countries.

He said in a press conference this week that:

..Tariffs on Canada will have to be instituted because this trade deal was “signed by a previous administration and leader who was a fool”.

The Mexican President, Canadian Prime Minister & Trump signing the USMCA trade deal in 2019 when Trump was president.

For once he told the truth.

Trump has posted a picture of an idealized Gaza "Riviera" beach scene.

It's going to happen isn't it?

A senior Israeli politician has called for the eradication of all Palestinian men and for women and children to be rounded up.

Another has called for all Palestinian children to be burned alive.

These are the people Trump has chosen as allies.

No-one can stop the displacement of Palestinians but where will they go?

How do you move nearly 2 million people?. Trump can't even manage to match Biden's daily deportations of illegal or criminal immigrants. Like all his boasts it was just more bullshit.

For Israelis to be calling for the genocide of entire race of people is beyond all comprehension.

The German people did not call for the murder of Jews and were basically kept in the dark. They didn't even vote for the ghastly Hitler in a majority vote. But the USA voted for Trump even though he , amongst his flim flamery say his intentions. Not the clueless MAGA muppets took it in.

On what planet would anyone want to holiday in a ghastly "Rivera" built on the bulldozed bodies of 10,000s of men women and children ?.

The Karma being built will be severe.

Trump wants a minerals deal because he wants America's money back. Well, what about every other country's money? How many billion has the UK spent on the war? Yet the British public, who get incredibly hot uunder the collar about the licence fee, appear unconcerned that a vast amount of the country's resources has been drained over the past three years or so on a war that no one seemed that committed to ending in the near future.

The German political writer Max Weber wrote in the 1910s about the Iron Cage of modern politics, which is so bureaucratic and methodical and entitled that, increasingly, hardly anything gets done. He also predicted that, briefly, a populist figure would gain power by promising to break out of the Iron Cage and get things done. Trump's success is that - people are so sick of nothing seeming to happen that when a figure turns up and promises that, one way or another, he'll do some deals, they don't seem bothered by the means, they just seem relieved that something is happening. It's alarming, but the blame resides within that cage - the orthodox politicians need to start providing alternative, practical, plans to deal with these issues.

Well, Hitler managed it, and quite a bit more. Maybe you missed that story, Hedda. You don't seem to be alone.

If Israel was forced to expand the GAZA strip (south east) to take in a small amount of land for development as part of Palestine, citizens could live there whilst working on the strip. There are more solutions than one.

Why would you assume I don't know about the Holocaust? Where in any post have I denied it? Appalling to fling accusations like that at someone. My mother was Jewish. It's insulting.

The bizarre film Trump posted of the Trump Gaza and the new "Rivera" with golden statues of Trump & bearded belly dancers is not just incredibly bizarre it's so grotesque.

What isn't being discussed by anyone is the fact there are 100s of $Billions in oil and gas reserves off the Gaza coast.

It rightfully belongs to the Palestinians. It's going to be stolen by the USA and Israel.

Trump is the only leader who seems to want peace, all leaders seem to want never ending wars. Gaza could have been a nice place by now. Instead both countries want to bomb each other. It's a religious thing. But why are their Gods not battling it out themselves?

It's bizarre how people don't want peace and want war to progress until their side wins.
