These words were the most I heard during my recent public transport trips.

I do hear "Have you seen this on TicTok?" a lot on the train or some mundane chat about football. Thank God for the invention of ear/headphones. Even then someone will nudge you and ask you what you listening to, if you say doom metal they leave you alone.

My late friend Tubs was a ribber he would pretend to listen to Gary Glitter so he could have a seat on the train to himself when he was probably listening to Janis Ian. There was me bright red hiding behind a newspaper.

I hate doom, speed, grindcore, thrash, black and nu-metal. I don't like talking to strangers on transport, anything to be left alone.

On a recent train trip to Southampton a very loud Irish girl sat next to me. On phone of course. "Oh Charlie, Charlie Charlie. Man up Charlie. Come on now Charlie. Your Mam Charlie, she was always right Charlie. Oh Charlie Charlie Charlie.." Drove me bonkers.
