I particularly dislike the following comment from the CPS and police

What will - and is intended to - prejudice proceedings is the very release and coverage of this case. It will provoke dozens of other claims which will, in due course, lead to most if not all of the charges on the indictment.

My version? "It is extremely important that anybody wanting to make thousands of pounds is aware that, by order of the current Prime Minister, you will be believed even if you are lying. In fact one of the few claims that could earn you even more cash would be against the Prime Minister himself, Keir Starmer, once Director of Public Prosecutions".

So much informed wisdom before any trial. As I said at the start, I have no knowledge at all; certainly no personal experience and no desire to be persuaded by media coverage or by police or CPS publicity. Like LUCY LETBY and many others, we can only observe and comment after a verdict. Many still believe Andrew Malkinson guilty and the Post Office submasters guilty. The only things we CAN be sure of is that this is a good story. And that false accusers DO exist - whether "vanishingly rare" or numerous and often influenced by a desire for cash.

Some people. 'I don't like him so therefore he's guilty'. Hope to God none of them are ever sitting on a Jury.

Like JK I have not a scintilla of knowledge of any actions by Brand and I note the slightly prejudicial police statement. They always do it don't they?

I was a Brand fan in his early days but I sort of went off him after he got involved with nefarious Trump characters so I don't really see how he's a "champagne socialist" (a moniker I used to proudly wear till I stopped drinking aeons ago) rather I thought he had veered to the right and was now a Jesus Freak.

Yes I never saw the charm or humour of Brand. No interest in his career or You Tubes. Don't even like any Katy Perry songs. And have no idea whether he was Casanova or Jack the Ripper. But I refuse to fall for media hype and know how many millions love making money from lying or exaggerating slightly.

I never got that age differential, 5 years is quite a vast difference isn't it. Is it because young men are supposed to be less mature than young women or something? I hate such generalisations anyway. At 18 you are legally an adult, or have been since about 1969 when it dropped from 21 to 18, so as far as I am concerned what two consenting adults decide to do with their own bodies is up to them and not for the bloody state to moralise on. That law was an ass.

As for Russell Brand, I have a lot of sympathies for Carl's stated position here, but becoming an insufferable arrogant lefty twerp doesn't necessarily male him guilty of anything.
