Billionaires tariffs make World stock markets fall

Billionaires buy cheap stocks

Stock markets recover.

Billionaires funnel even more money to billionaires.

Certainly the Trump Dip has allowed many investors to temporarily benefit, with bargain prices. The market won't be too long in readjusting this coming week.

Gold (at the highest price ever) and lithium are highly sought after. The later - to facilitate the EV boom; the former to guard against an uncertain economic future.

Certainly absolute fortunes can be made on a falling stock market and Trump even exhorted Yanks to do just that.

But it's the corporate class and the very rich who make it.

The tens of millions of American with superannuation funds and the ordinary punter don't get a look in.

And it's a gamble that Wall Street will recover.

Trump is really punishing tens of millions of ordinary Americans who have over the decades been blameless while the corporate class and billionaires have ruthlessly shut down US industry and sent it abroad.

US presidents but especially Trump have rewarded these actions by cutting corporate taxes.

Americans benefited from cheap prices via imported cheaper made goods.

But despite this US American basic wages have not benefited with a minimum wage that hasn't changed for 2 decades (wages which bizarrely are subsidized by millions of US job holders still needing Food Stamps).

Good grief Al/Hedda - is that what Trump is up to do you think? Just trying to make a billion? Is that what this is all about?

As I say, like JK, I don't understand all this stuff, and can't be bothered with it.

I agree Wyot, it's becoming very boring.

I don't believe any media especially those who did nothing but did Trump bashing and gave Biden an easy ride.

How Donald Trump Bankrupted His Atlantic City Casinos, but Still Earned Millions

But even as his companies did poorly, Mr. Trump did well. He put up little of his own money, shifted personal debts to the casinos and collected millions of dollars in salary, bonuses and other payments. The burden of his failures fell on investors and others who had bet on his business acumen.

Trump has no doubt made a couple of $Billion by selling shares in his truth social a few days ago remarkably and totally not connected to the fact his tariff announcements sent the stock market tumbling.

I don't understand what is so difficult to understand about tariffs / import taxes.

A new tax on something always raises the price. But so far none of Trump's tariffs have been implemented as only Congress can pass new taxes.

These proposed Trump import taxes are on products imported into the USA so the price of Mexican avocados and "burner phones" made in Asia will rise as the importer passes on the new tax.

So simple to understand.

It's Americans including MAGA devotees in the short term who will be paying these new prices.

The biggest grooming gangs (ignored at our peril) are not just for dubious profit power & control including fake media; but also for psychopaths' giant egos and careers.

E.G. un-taped some supposed 'victims' are routinely groomed (criminally witness-tampered) by arrogant cops/media gangs to lie for lolly, big cash-compo.

Quote VP JK's arrogant bent cop, "What color was his (blue-shirt tug) door?"

Or, groomed UK schoolgirl, "Me and my mates was always out to grab tasty geezers wiv bling & Beamers/BMWs, but bent-cops groomed us to LIE that THEY grabbed us!"

It's not just "hard to understand" Hedda - it's of no interest to me whatsoever. But to comment I would need to study and examine fully. I can see Mexican avocados would cost more to US consumers if a tariff was added. But a sudden growth in AMERICAN avocados should, I assume, cost Americans LESS. Simples, I would have thought. Plus giving employment, taxes etc to Americans. THAT'S what is beyond me (and of no interest).

But farms specialize in certain produce and the reality is if American farms could grow avocados cheaper than or as cheap as Mexico they already would be.

Combine that with the fact DOGE has cut subsidies which American farmers rely on to survive and is deporting the cheap undocumented labour they use as Americans won't work so cheaply.

Maybe some farmer will grow avocados but they will still be far more expensive for Americans.

In reality US farmers pretty well struggle to survive so it's touch and go if they can ride out this drama.

But never fear as it's just been revealed that JD Vance has shares in a company that specializes in buying up foreclosed farms for cents in the dollar so there's always a silver lining.

Last person who did that was Bill Gates who bought up 100,000s of acreage..

During Trump's first term I had a rather depressing dialogue with a female Trump supporter I knew.

She thought his bankruptcies were an act of brilliance. The fact that 100's of small US businesses and 1000s of contractors were not paid didn't faze her.

This was the antithesis of what principled US businesses prided themselves on..paying their invoices and paying on time.

I recall reading a sad tale of Trump's bankrupted Atlantic City casino.

A small family run 100 year old firm had supplied Trump with several Steinway grand pianos. They never got paid and went bust.
My female correspondent thought it was hilarious. I assume she became a MAGA fan.
