You clearly know more about this boring subject than I do but your information that no tariffs can be activated until Congress or Senate confirm them, yet today we see Trump declaring a further tariff on China from APRIL 9th (day after tomorrow). Please explain.

How will the the young cope with Temu goes up a few pence on their plastic junk, polyester clothes and knock off band shirts?

I bought a Nugent baseball cap to give Temu a try, the motif was ironed on crooked and the peak was too wide.

It was only fit for the bin.

The Constitution gives Congress the power to impose new taxes.

The president can increase already passed tariffs/taxes by Congress.

The current Congress will pass whatever Trump tells it to.

I am no expert on tariffs or taxes.

Sheer common sense should tell anyone a new tax is passed on to the customer.

This has become very boring

Actually under emergency powers the president can impose a tariff / tax for reasons of national security.

So maybe he'll declare Heard Island (population 1 million penguins) is a national threat to the USA and impose 100% tariff on the avocados exported to the US by the left wing penguins.

I suggest reading or even going to YouTube and see what endless economists say about tariff wars.

I just know prices go up if your government imposes an import duty on something you buy or need.
Common sense should tell you that.

Yes I can see that prices might go up - I thought the price to customers depended on retailers and suppose that prices might go down if retailers wanted to sell more but cheaply. I really do not understand the economies of society and assumed that people tailored their prices dependent on demand. I made my own music. If I needed to buy or hire foreign music to sell I offered whatever would make me profits. I looked at tax, VAT etc and calculated accordingly. I thought tariffs were just a part of that. But I agree. Boring.
