Several messages asking why the BBC haven't put all those No1 shows on again as nostalgic views of what the places/music/movies/stars were like in the 1980s. Sadly the answer is - media is so terrified of media criticism that it is unable to think intelligently. YES it would be great TV. Yes it would get huge ratings. Yes it's inexpensive and easy programming but NO - he's a (wrongly) convicted Vile Pervert and we cannot support such people as half a dozen bonkers loonies would protest and some media would use it as a stick to beat the BBC (like not showing Top of the Pops using Savile or DLT or, indeed JK).
STUPID PILL!!!

STUPID PILL!!! It is very stupid. Erasing history and attempting to erase those that made TV and radio what it was. Wasn't Entertainment USA BBC 2's top rated show?
To be fair this kind of show was very much a topical show and of its time. They were never shown even before anyone was convicted in court, rightly or wrongly.
The same goes for Jim'll Fix it. A very popular show for 20 years, but it was never repeated, even before any allegations against Saville came out. I don't think that No Limits not been re-shown is anything to do with JK'S convictions. He doesn't even appear in the show. They don't re-show old editions of Blue Peter or Magpie, which are similar type of magazine shows.
I still think it is ridiculous that they don't show any old editions of TOTP presented by DLT. He was charged of a minor sexual offence against an adult and recieved a non-custodial sentence. They were quite happy to let Leslie Grantham appear in Eastenders for 15 years and become a major tv personality after serving 12 years for manslauugher. So allegedly touching someones boob is worse than killing someone. The world has gone mad.
Grantham finally get cancelled when he was acting pervy over on a webcam.
BBC do show old editions of TOTP but they just edited out presenters but there is a lot of episodes wiped from the 60s and 70s.
Entertainment USA was a good show and BBC do repeat Whicker's World every now and then which was topical for the day. JK should buy the tapes from the BBC and upload them to Youtube, I loved the New Orleans episode where JK found bootleg tapes from dodgy sellers.
DLT's wife suffered a breakdown, he lost his home. His weekend shows on R1 had massive numbers of listeners. His Pub Team Quizzes had the whole nation listening in. The only victims here were him and his family.
The point is Robbie that a lot of those episodes of both my shows would be interesting to see the cities and celebrities compared to as they are today and the movie trailers and songs/hits/videos would also fascinate millions.
I think it would be a good idea for BBC 4 to re-create a Thursday night from the early 80s, like they do with the TOTP re-runs where they show the episode from the corresponding week of the year for a specific year. They could show Tommorrow's World, followed by TOTP, then Entertainment USA, then some 80s sitcom. I'm sure that the BBC 4 audience would lap it up.

Telly was so damned good then. And hardly any Comedy Panel game shows, reality shows or inane talent contests.
