TOPIC: BBC Toxic Culture
#258520
BBC Toxic Culture 4 Months ago
The report does as expected - obeys the media Holy Ghost ("a good story") and ignoring the reality ("you will be believed even if you are lying"). The true crimes of people like Carl Beech and Jemma Beale are ignored. It is assumed that people cannot lie or exaggerate. Virginia Giuffre must have been, as media universally decrees, an abused, vulnerable and honest child who never exaggerated - why would anybody make up stories about wealthy or famous people? Where is Mrs Merton when we need her?

Apart from anything else, does this report condemning several people currently under investigation, break legal rules?

And gets me thinking if Starmer the Sweaty Harmer says 'You will be believed', then surely that turns any justice on its head because then the accused is presumed guilty until found innocent.

Oh yes Cat and as DPP he was only reflecting public and media values - why bother with trials? They often wreck a great story.

Quite right that no one is untouchable and tha also includes BBC bosses who deal with these reports
I wonder if they have any "skeletons" in the cupboard.

Oh they certainly do - don't we all? But the point is - they need to grow a backbone - society needs to grow a backbone. Media publicity does NOT mean guilt. Accepted social sympathy for victims of abuse should NOT mean avoiding seeing liars or exaggerators.

Now, female staff are part of sexual harassment. If a bloke showed dicks pics, he would no doubt be named and shamed. I am glad I don't fund the BBC. Masterchef should have been shelved if the BBC are doing edits to it. Go woke go broke, MasterChef will no doubt find it hard to keep viewers next year. They will probably rebrand like they did with Top Gear, and what a flop that was.

And that is exactly what Gregg Wallace and John Torode suffered..a media blitz and punishment by the BBC without the ability or opportunity to defend themselves.
