Alcatraz 2 Weeks, 3 Days ago
Trump wants it reopened and expanded. Maybe he's watched too many films. Maybe he's just a bit nuts. I would suggest Alcatraz isn't and never has been fit for purpose. DOGE will surely advise him this idea is neither efficient or sane. The man is as Mad as a bloody March Hare.

Isle of Wight is a prison island and HMP Verne is out of middle of nowhere and rightly so. Dorset is pretty much a prison county.

Trump has announced that he's not sure he will obey The Constitution despite taking an oath that he would during his inauguration.

I reckon the Republicans may have to remove him at some stage and replace him with a far more compliant Vance.

He also said at rallies he would open (Concentration ?) camps for the homeless. Maybe that's what he plans to use Alcatraz for.

Downtown LA is now like a village of homeless camps.

Indeed GM. But apparently in the US they have many many empty beds in their many many prisons. Not sure what Trump is even thinking here. Not sure he does either. Other than wanting people he views as inferior to suffer. Alcatraz is a very shitty stain on the USA's history.

He could use it for a prison for nonces and sex cases, I am for that, but I am not sure if we have the time for an adult discussion, on here.

Alacatraz was a Federal prison but it's California land.

Not sure the Newsome government would want this but I have no idea what powers the Federal government has over the States.

I once drove an old Kombi van from LA to San Francisco for a pal. It was torture and we arrived at about 3 am and ran out of petrol on the Golden Gate bridge.

A police car kindly pushed us to an open service station just on the other side and said it happens all the time.

I also went to a loo by the harbour and looked out over Alcatraz. It looked desperately gloomy and put me right of Frisco.

Also saw a snake that slithered across my path. Only time I've seen one in the wild.

So is Brighton and Hastings, on the UK south coast. Tents are chained to the railings.

Shop doorways are inhabited all over - and drugs are needed, to cope.

It's as easy to have your benefits giro(s) sent there - than London etc. Seaside venues attract.

Many of of the old Victorian hotels are now small bedsits for the 'homeless' - for a percentage of their giros.
