I hate the fact that governments and, it seems, the majority of punters feel that skilled workers and those who will benefit our country are more important to allow entry than those who need it. This is beyond me but I suppose accepted wisdom in society is that nationality is more important than humanity.
Indeed. And Farage and Tice so desperate for Brexit so we could trade with the rest of the world casting aspersions on Indian migrants coming over in a trade deal. There would never be any trade deal unless it involved the free movement of people. And I'm no Starmer fan. The answer is to get back in the EU, and allow genuine refugees in. Starmer terrified of upsetting the Brexiteers, finds he's upsetting them anyway by doing trade with brown people.

Cameron wanted a referendum thinking we would remain and trying to stop the squabbling in his party. The public weren't calling for it -just the Tory party.

Re writing history to present Brexit as the glorious will of the people defeating the establishment is just not factual.

There's a very small percentage who are admitted on humanitarian reasons
I simply cannot understand the immigration issue. Until we start thinking in terms of humanity as a species and continue to accept that nationalism is far more important, there can be no justice.
Society must adapt to the population just as it must adapt to climate change and crime.

About 12 hours later after the vote counted, he fucked off!

Indeed.
However, this does not in any way speak to your assertion that the public wanted a referendum.
