"Rachel Reeves – make the arts part of UK National Renewal."
I am very conflicted about tax money going towards performing arts, especially as it's always the inner cities that seem to get the funds. Then again, if you are good, you wouldn't need public money in theory. I have noticed that the events that the BFI puts on are always in London. The establishment destroyed the Arts when it put us all under lockdown for no reason whatsoever.
I do remember a petition near me, where concerts could go ahead if you signed a waiver to say, if you got Covid, it's your doing, not the theatre or the band's fault. People were allowed to fly in crowded planes but not sit in theatres.
I have noticed that booking fees are now rip-off, some cases about £10, and even in the small theatres you have to pay £1 to £3 per fees per ticket to help maintain the venues, which I don't mind, but I would like to be given the option to donate voluntarily. The booking agent at the desk gives some sob story why they are doing it, despite getting funds from the Lottery, county council, city council and the Arts Council.
Pints are about £6 - £7, which is a ripoff. I thought I was in Latvia again when I charged £6. Utilita in Brum is about £10 for a pint.
