Broligarchs, AI, and a techno-authoritarian surveillance state 2 Days ago
This is a disturbing interview (approx. 17.5 mins) (and can't claim to have understood it completely) with the investigative journalist Carol Cadwalladr about the US government, in collusion with the “tech bros”/“broligarchy”, and what she thinks are its/their plans for surveillance/control of the public via AI.
Cadwalladr rose to international prominence in 2018 for her role in exposing the Facebook–Cambridge Analytica data scandal, for which she was a finalist for the 2019 Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting, alongside The New York Times reporters. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carole_Cadwalladr

I didn't know that there had been talk of the Trump administration doing this 6 years ago or of the "tech bros" being in cahoots with it then. The viral article dates from 2024.

The Hollywood and US actor's union SAG went on strike over this very matter in 2023 and were successful in the end.
Their beef was that the big film studios and producers ..and they should know as the union members include all the special effects experts...could use actors and extra's images over and over again in future productions without paying them.
